§1

Overview

Ovarian carcinoma is five diseases with one name. The course teaches the histotype-first approach: high-grade serous, low-grade serous, endometrioid, clear-cell and mucinous tumours, their precursors, immunoprofiles and the molecular findings that now change treatment. Endometrial and cervical pathology are covered in the same reporting framework.

§2

What you will be able to do

  • Type ovarian carcinoma histotype-first and choose the minimal immunopanel that confirms it
  • Report borderline tumours and implants in terms a gynaecological oncologist can act on
  • Apply the molecular classification of endometrial carcinoma and its surrogate immunohistochemistry
  • Separate HPV-associated from HPV-independent cervical and vulvar neoplasia and report accordingly
§3

Syllabus

  1. Histotyping algorithm and immunopanel
  2. Borderline tumours and implants
  3. Endometrial carcinoma: molecular classification
  4. HPV-associated and independent cervical neoplasia
  5. Reporting for tumour boards and clinical trials
§4

Excerpt

Lecture 04 — p53 patterns and what they mean

A single immunostain that is misread every week. Wild-type, overexpression, null and cytoplasmic patterns on real ovarian and endometrial material, the pitfalls of heterogeneous staining, and how the pattern feeds the molecular classification and the germline conversation.

§6

What is included

  • 24 recorded lectures (streamed, 12 months)
  • Histotyping algorithm and immunopanel card (PDF, permanent)
  • Endometrial molecular classification flowchart
  • ICCR-aligned report templates (editable)
  • Self-assessment with model answers
§7

Readership & prerequisites

Who it is written for

Pathologists and residents reporting gynaecological material, gynaecological oncologists reading their own pathology.

What you need beforehand

Working knowledge of general surgical pathology. The molecular lectures assume Module 06 or equivalent, but are self-contained.

§8

Assessment & certificate

30 case-based questions; pass mark 70 %. Two attempts included.

Passing the assessment adds this module to your MEDSMITH record. A certificate with hours studied is issued for the complete program; single modules receive a confirmation of completion on request.

§9
